The “first” version of IT earned somewhere in the ballpark of $700 million dollars (on a $35 million budget), which is interesting considering that it–pardon the pun–was weak tea as far as horror movies go.
And speaking of box office, the receipts of the original movie indicates two things. First, it’s likely that the budget for the sequel is likely going to be–at least–doubled.
And second, the first movie wasn’t particularly scary, so the likelihood is high that the second won’t be, either.
I would ask how it is such a movie earned so much money, but mediocrity is apparently a virtue sometimes.
