‘The Smurfs’ Trailer

Edited 7/28 1542 1545 Raja Gosnell’s “The Smurfs” isn’t a film that I have any intention of seeing, but that doesn’t mean that someone else (though I imagine that they would have to be under twelve) wouldn’t mind seeing the trailer.

‘Battleship’ Trailer

Edited 7/31 049 The trailer for Peter Berg’s “Battleship” is available via Yahoo! Movies, and, if I do say so myself, it’s looking very Transformerish (not too sure if that’s a good or bad thing yet).

‘The Woman’ Trailer

Edited 7/28 2030 Lucky McKee is a talented director, as “The Woods,” and “May” have shown us.  He’s back with “The Woman,” which looks a bit like torture porn, though I am obviously not basing that on anything but the trailer.

Guillermo Del Toro Stares At The ‘Rim’

Edited 7/26 729 Guillermo Del Toro, unable to get his version of H.P. Lovecraft’s “At The Mountains Of Madness” off the ground, was originally slated to direct “The Hobbit,” with Peter Jackson producing.  Because of financial problems at MGM (the studio that would have released it) he left “The Hobbit,” and moved on moved on […]

‘Captain America’ Review

Edited 7/25 917, 949, 950, 951 If you’re looking for a Captain America whose roots drink heavily of the 1940’s, you’re in the wrong movie.  If you’re looking for nostalgic entertainment of a time that’s in the vein of Indiana Jones, you’re found it. Karina Longworth, of The Village Voice, criticizes Marvel Studios’ “Captain America: […]

Official ‘The Avengers’ Teaser Poster

Edited 7/21 1220 Marvel has a new, downloadable “Avengers” poster.  I like the glassy minimalist look that doesn’t attempt to reveal the whole film.  I’m psyched because I am a fan of Joss Whedon‘s Serenity (which is somewhat ironic because I am not too crazy about “Firefly,” the television series which was the basis for […]

‘Amazing Spider-Man’ Trailer

Edited 7/20 at 1926 Here’s the most recent trailer for Marc Webb‘s “The Amazing Spider-Man” though Sony has been pulling it quite often, so I have no idea how long it’s going to be up. Why does this movie not move me? Part of it I think is due to “Spider-Man 3” having come out […]

The ‘Batman Rises’ Trailer Takes Flight

The “Batman Rises” trailer is online, though if you glance though the articles that I have written, you’ll notice that’s there’s nothing there about Batman. Zip.  Nada.  Zero.  Nothing. This is because the Christopher Nolan’s Batman films don’t embody what I want to see in a superhero comic–which is, generally speaking, larger than life characters, […]

A Mystery At St. Anna

I just learned something (which is not as unusual as some might think;):  The only Spike Lee Joint that wasn’t profitable was “Miracle At St. Anna,” and I assumed that was because the box office had spoken.  And Box Office Mojo, seemed to confirm that perspective, seeing that the film earned almost $8 million in […]
