‘Paranorman’ Trailer
“Paranorman” looks like a lot of fun. If I wasn’t already convinced that I wanted to see the movie, the dial tone scene toward the end really sold it for me. There’s also the title, which is really, really cool.

James Wan‘s “Insidious” earned almost $100 million worldwide, while Oren Peli‘s Paranormal Activity films combined earned almost $600 million dollars. Big deal, you might say–and it is–till you realize that “Insidious” cost only $1.5 million to make, while the Paranormal Activity films COMBINED cost just over $8 million. That’s a lot of return for minimal […]
The trailer for Marvel Studios’ “The Avengers” is here, and it kicks all kind of arse. It looks remarkable, and just the thought of such iconic Marvel characters on screen at the same time is the stuff that fanboy dreams are made of. Which is why it’s somewhat ironic that the poster sucks so much […]
Those of you that read Robert Kirkman’s “The Walking Dead,” know who ‘The Governor’ is (and I don’t mean Arnold Schwarzenegger), and with the Third season of the zombie series he will be played by David Morrissey. He’s the second British actor in the cast, the first being Andrew Lincoln, who plays Sheriff Rick Grimes.
With companies–literally–spending millions of dollars for a 30-second spot during the Super Bowl, some may wonder what they’re spending the money on. That answer is: viewers. Despite huge costs to advertise during the game, Super Bowl XLV in 2011 brought in 111 million viewers. That’s a huge amount of eyes glued to the screen, which […]
If John Carpenter’s version of “The Thing” had not existed, then Matthijs van Heijningen, Jr’s film would have been much better received because, while it isn’t bad, it is not nearly as effective as Carpenter’s film
It’s Not Human. Yet. The prequel to John Carpenter’s eponymously-named film (with potentially the coolest tagline in years) is coming out October 14th; though if you can’t wait 6 days, I may have found something to hold you over till then. Dark Horse Comics has issued a free three-issue digital comic based upon the mythology of […]
Here’s the trailer for “Paranormal Activity 3,” which I would like to think is going to concentrate on being scary and atmospheric, unlike the prior entry.
Many horror films, be they of the ‘Saw’ or “Friday the 13th” variety, are a lot of things, but scary isn’t one of them. This is often because their stock and trade is shock, and violence is the means to that end. They’re not particularly scary because fear involves mood and atmosphere, things that takes […]
Does the premise of Shawn Levy‘s “Real Steel,” promoter has junky robot that has to overcome the odds against more advanced, more dangerous opponents, strike anyone else as silly (which is saying something based upon some of the films out there)? And if that were not enough of a hurdle to overcome, it also sounds […]
