‘Stitched’ Trailer

Anyone who’s a fan of “The Punisher,”–the Marvel comic, not the 2008 movie “Punisher: War Zone, though that too was based upon a story by Garth Ennis, “Welcome Home, Frank”–or “Hellblazer,” is aware of the edgy, violent, storytelling of Garth Innis. Recently he released a trailer for a film he wrote and directed called “Stitched.” […]

‘The Thing’ Teaser Poster

I don’t think that that “The Thing” will be the final title of the film, though it’s accurate in the sense that’s it’s a prequel to John Carpenter’s 1982 cult classic, one can easily mistake it as a ‘reboot,’ which are very popular these days. The teaser poster is OK, though I think the tagline […]

‘Contagion’ Trailer

“Contagion,” A new thriller from Steven Soderbergh, the director of “Ocean’s Eleven,” “Ocean’s Twelve,” “The Girlfriend Experience,” “Bubble,” etc, revolves around a viral outbreak, that threatens not only on our central characters, but seemingly the world. Admittedly you can’t always tell how entertaining a film will be from the trailer, though it surprises me somewhat […]

More ‘Oldboy’ News!

According to Aintitcoolnews.com, Josh Brolin is being sought for a lead role in Spike Lee’s take on Chan wook-Park’s “Oldboy.”  It’s seems like a good choice, because onscreen he can appear somewhat volatile, which is perhaps not too different from real life if the bar fight during the filming of Oliver Stone’s “W” is any indicator.

Spike Lee Is Down With ‘Oldboy!’

Spike Lee has confirmed that he is doing “Oldboy,” according to Aintitcoolnews.  The article makes the point of telling us that it’s a remake of Chan wook-Park’s film, not the anime.  Also, according to Blackfilm he’s revisiting some of the characters from his breakout 1989 film, “Do The Right Thing” in “Red Hook Summer.” Spike Lee, despite what […]

Trailer for ‘Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol’

The trailer for “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol” has come out, and it looks interesting, though isn’t that the point of a trailer? I thought that the first Mission Impossible film was OK; not so much the second, despite being directed by John Woo.  The third, by J.J. Abrams, felt a bit more in the spirit […]

Teaser Trailer For Disney’s ‘Brave’

“Cars 2” roared into the US box office with an opening of $66.1 million.  A strong debut, ranking fifth behind “Up,” “Finding Nemo,” “The Incredibles” and “Toy Story 3.”  The next release from Pixar is “Brave” and I expect it to continue the trend. And in other things Pixar, consider checking out ‘the movie blog,’

Will ‘Green Lantern’ Be Eclipsed By ‘Transformers’ & ‘Captain America?’

As I wrote last week, Green Lantern’s greatest problem is that its foreign box office returns are weak, which is confirmed in a story at ComicBookmovie.com.  The article, among other things, tells of a precipitous box office fall-off the film has recently experienced.  According to Boxofficemojo, “Green Lantern” has currently earned $76 million dollars, domestically,  […]

New ‘Captain America’ Poster

Why Marvel Studios isn’t releasing “Captain America” on July 4th I’ll never know, though I dig the whole nostalgia vibe that the posters seem to be putting out.  They appear to reflect sensibilities and a time that–probably–never really existed but that older people swear was real.
