Here’s a link to the red band trailer for “The Thing,” though I don’t see what all the drama is about because it isn’t any gorier that the regular version, though there appear to be a few more FX shots.

What really interested me about it was that it seemed that the first person to fall victim to the creature was a black person.

It reminded me of a typical episode of Star Trek, when Captain Kirk, Bones and Spock would beam down to an alien planet with a security officers or two.  After they inevitably overcame whatever menace that threatened them, they were almost guaranteed to be a security officer to two short, both which happened to be on that particular away mission.

Such filmmaking always seems to me to be somewhat lazy, though perhaps I am being premature.
