I just completed Trine, a side-scrolling video game from Frozenbyte.  It revolves around three characters: a thief–clearly the most useful of the characters, a wizard and a warrior.  Through some evil magic they are combined into one, so you can use only one particular character at once.

The cool thing about this is that the abilities of some characters will come into use, while others will be less useful at any given moment.

It is a very lush, beautiful game.  The design gives the game a 3D look, though it isn’t.  As I said, I just finished the game, and a new level, Path to New Dawn,” was unlocked.  I finished in the nick of time because Steam recently released “Trine 2.”
