Andron – Trailer

I like this trailer. Sure, it looks like a car crash between The Maze Runner, The Hunger Games movies with a liberal dollop of The Running Man but in its defense it revolves around actual adults, as opposed young adults, and stars Danny Glover and Alec Baldwin. Which is almost worth the cost of admission.

Beware (Or Not) The Dreaded Reshoot

Supposedly, reshoots are a normal part of moviemaking.  Oftentimes they’re done to make the story flow better, or to add something that focus groups shown the movie in pre-release screenings thought would somehow sharpen its focus or to address a weakness. Though reshoots can also happen when a movie is believed to be in danger and […]

Morgan – Trailer

I like this trailer a lot. Partially because it has Toby Jones (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Barbarian Sound Studio-a movie to this day I don’t quite get. Texturally speaking, it reminds of Pontypool, which is a good thing, though I need to see it again) as well as an Ex Machina vibe, good things […]

I Want To Like A Prometheus Sequel

I really want to like the idea that Ridley Scott is coming up with a sequel to Prometheus, but I have a few problems: First, the screenplay was written by Jack Paglen (Transcendence) and Michael Green (Green Lantern), both of whom have written some pretty mediocre movies (and let’s be clear.  Why a movie turns out not […]

Independence Day: Resurgence Extended Trailer

I’ve said it before, but with movies like Captain America: Civil War and the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse it’s hard for other movies to get any oxygen, particularly big-budget tentpoles like Warcraft and Independence Day: Resurgence Mixed reviews certainly don’t help, like in the case of Warcraft though I honestly think that people are getting tired […]

Finding Dory – Trailer 2

Before watching the latest trailer for Pixar’s Finding Dory I was prepared to not like it. After all, I find Ellen DeGeneres’ voice irritatingly ingratiating and in this particular context so saccharine cute that if I were diabetic I’d be worried about falling into a coma. That being said, the trailer is pretty captivating. The […]

Star Trek: Beyond – Trailer (2) Into Reaction

As I mention in my latest video (below the text), the most recent trailer for Star Trek: Beyond (I don’t care that there’s no colon, I’m putting one in anyway) looks pretty interesting. There’s a lot going on–maybe even a bit too much because from a narrative standpoint I have no idea why things are happening […]

The Purge: Election Day – Official Trailer 2

2013’s The Purge was always a guilty pleasure of mine, despite that if you take away the fascinating concept of a 12-hour period once a year in which you’re free kill whomever you want, you’re left with what is a simple home invasion thriller. With the 2014 sequel, The Purge: Anarchy the concept began to […]

4th Man Out – Review

I liked Andrew Nackman’s 4th Man out a lot because it’s less a dramedy about a guy, Adam (Evan Todd) who realizes that’s he’s gay and trying his best to deal with it–though that’s an important aspect–than the community of friends and relatives that surround him, and their reaction to his announcement. What makes this […]
