Guillermo Del Toro Enters The Treehouse Of Horror!

Guillermo Del Toro, who most recently directed “Pacific Rim” is back in the directors chair with the opening to “The Simpsons Treehouse of Terror XXIV.”  Along with nods to his own movies, he gives props to classic monsters like Frankenstein and the Invisible Man. Blade also makes an appearance, which is awesome because Marvel, which […]

‘Neighbors’ Red Band Trailer

There are some good moments in the trailer for Nicholas Stoller’s “Neighbors,” (particularly the airbag incident) but I don’t know…it somehow feels so calculated, as if some studio executive put what they think today’s young people like into a computer, and among various other things out came the names: Seth Rogen, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Zac […]

‘Antboy’ Trailer

Imagine Spider-Man, mixed with the presentation skills of Batman, and you have Antboy (and let’s be honest, being bit by an ant and getting superpowers is just as plausible – and nonsensical – as a radioactive spider).  And as critical as I tend to be of how Spider-man managed to create such an awesome costume, […]

‘This is 40’ Review

“”This Is 40” is an oddly self-indulgent movie about people who’s problems have nothing to do with their age.” There are mild spoilers, so if you have not seen the film, please consider seeing it before reading. Growing up, my family used to watch shows like “Dynasty,” Falcon’s Crest” and “Flamingo Road;”  stories about very […]

‘Seven Psychopaths’ Red Band Trailer

“Seven Psychopaths” stars Colin Farrell, Sam Rockwell, Tom Waits, Woody Harrelson, and Christopher Walken. It was directed by Martin McDonagh, who also did “In Bruges,” which I have heard is a very entertaining, though I have yet to see it. Though not billed as such, “Seven Psychopaths” feels to me like a must-see film, bordering on […]

‘Punching The Clown’

I am always on the lookout for entertaining movies, though I prefer science fiction, horror, thrillers, and comedies, pretty much in that order. Though I tend to watch virtually any film that isn’t too amateurish, and not drek like “The Human Centipede” (which may have some redeeming qualities, which I might actually notice if I […]

Brian’s ‘The Campaign’ Review

“The most fun you will ever have watching a baby getting socked in the face.” Jay Roach’s “The Campaign” is really funny, but it’s also two different movies.  The first is hilarious, and deals with Marty Huggins (Zach Galifianakis), who appears to live virtually every stereotype that accompanies being queer, and yet he (somehow) manages […]

The FriendFace of Facebook

I have never been a fan of Facebook, though I have always had difficulty explaining why I feel that giving someone such complete control of everything that I post is (somehow) not a great idea.  This reticience coupled with a company that is looking to monetize as much of its users experience as possible isn’t […]

‘Paranorman’ Trailer

“Paranorman” looks like a lot of fun.  If I wasn’t already convinced that I wanted to see the movie, the dial tone scene toward the end really sold it for me.  There’s also the title, which is really, really cool.

7 Minutes in Heaven: Paul Rudd

I am posting this because I have never seen “7 Minutes in Heaven” before, and wanted as wide as possible an audience to see it, and Paul Rudd has to be one the boldest (and most secure) actors that I have seen in quite awhile. Posted with vodpod
