The trailer for Disney’s Artemis Fowl–based on the Young Adult novels by Eoin Colfer–dropped a few hours hours ago…and it’s a mess.

For a start, it’s nothing that we haven’t seen before.

Now, there’s little new under the sun, so it’s in the way that you arrange those familiar elements that matter most and this looks like a mix of Harry Potter, Men In Black (and The Fifth Element).

Now, if that were it’s only problem it wouldn’t be great but it would be forgivable.

But the trailer is remarkably chaotic. There’s so much going on that it just doesn’t mesh.

And what’s the black guy with blond hair? There’re scenes where he looks like he’s trying to keep a low profile, which when you’re a black male with blond hair is somewhat difficult to do.
