‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Out-Opens ‘The Batman’

As if we needed any more evidence that Warner Bros is mismanaging DC Films: A Doctor Strange movie has out-opened Batman, $185 million vs $135 million, after its three-day premiere (from Friday through Sunday).

Doctor Strange, a character most people have never heard of prior to his 2016 movie, has out-opened literally one of the best known comic characters ever created.

And sure, there’re reasons for it, such as Strange’s appearance in Doctor Strange (2016), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019) and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2022) as well being played by Benedict Cumberbatch and the return of Sam Raimi, but that doesn’t change the fact that Batman should NEVER, EVER underperform Doctor Strange.

After all, DC can’t even seem to find their way around to making a Superman movie, a character that’s arguably more popular and better known than Batman (and certainly Doctor Strange) .

Though apparently they’re developing a Wonder Twins movie (which supposedly has been cancelled, seemingly due to the merger between Discovery and Warner Bros, which is good though the question is why it was ever considered in the first place), so there’s that?

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has earned just over $479 million over five days, making the likelihood of it hitting a billion very, very likely.
