‘The Thing’ Trailer

I posted the poster for the upcoming, “The Thing,” directed by Matthijs van Heijningen, Jr., yesterday, now here’s the trailer.  Visually, it looks OK, but call me confused because in the original film the sole survivor at the beginning of the film spoke Norwegian (in fact, since “The Thing” is a prequel to John Carpenter’s film, his character could possibly be in this trailer).  That he speaks Norwegian makes sense, since the survey team was from Norway, after all.

Then, I wonder why does everyone that talks speaks (primarily) American English?  My point is that if everyone (an assumption based upon the trailer) were able to speak English of some variety, then why didn’t the last member of their team do so when encountered by MacCreedy and his crew?

Could have saved him a bullet in the head.

Seen from that prospective, the trailer doesn’t make much sense.

And I get that this is an American film (Universal Pictures), then again so was the first.

I could be wrong, and his character hasn’t yet been revealed, but I am sensing serious continuity problems for a film that is supposed to be a prequel.

By way of comparison, here’s the trailer for John Carpenter’s “The Thing.”
