See, this is the sort of stuff that irks me to no end.
According to The Wrap, Warner Brothers is remaking “Point Break,” though I have to ask, “Why?” The film itself isn’t anything remarkable, though you do have Keanu Reeves in a role in which he’s actually engaging.
Then there’s Patrick Swayze, who sells the whole Zen surfer/bank robber thing.
“Point Break” isn’t by an stretch a great film (in fact, it can probably be argued that it isn’t necessarily even very good), but perhaps more importantly, it is engaging and fun to watch.
I am sensing another “Fright Night” here, by which I mean an unnecessary remake to a well-liked film that fails at the box office.
Why don’t they keep the essential premise of the film, and just change things around a bit? It’s not as if Hollywood is adverse to stealing an idea of two when it suits a purpose, though I get the feeling that we’re going to see casting calls for young, blond WB-types anytime now.
