‘Madness’ Is Alive

When I read that Guillmero Del Toro was abandoning his passion project, a movie based upon H.P. Lovecraft’s “At The Mountains Of Madness” partially because Universal decided that a movie like “Battleship” would be a better investment (that’s not quite fair.  I have no idea if Universal financing “Battleship” had anything to do with them bailing on ‘Madness,’ and it’s R-rating, though I wouldn’t put it past them) and partially because he believed that Ridley Scott’s “Prometheus” somehow covered the same territory his film would have.

I can’t speak for Del Toro, but I thought that Scott’s film was by no means a definitive ‘origin of Man film,’ and I suspect that Guillermo Del Toro felt the same, because it appears that he has not given up on “At The Mountains Of Madness” after all.

It goes without saying that the better his upcoming film, “Pacific Rim” does, the greater the likelihood that ‘Madness’ will happen.

I guess that’s what happens when you sacrifice to the right deities;)
