I was walking home yesterday via my typical route. Passing under an overpass my building is to the left, behind a chain-link fence.
To the right is a sparsely wooded median, and a few feet from that, elevated on giant concrete stilts, is the highway that I just passed under.
Interstate 95, I think.
As I walked the through the median I noticed a squirrel “staring” at me. I understood that it wasn’t staring per se, more likely it stood there because it was begging, and was so used to humans that I didn’t threaten it.
But to see it just standing there, arms hanging down in front of it, little chest heaving…
I could reason why it was doing so, and understand why in the logical part of my mind, though the primitive part of my brain was saying: “If that rodent charges at me I am so going to wig out.”

Love it 😀
