The trailer dropped for Venom: Let There Be Carnage yesterday and if you liked Venom (2018) you’ll probably feel at home with the upcoming sequel (though who knows? It’s not unusual for clips in trailers to have scenes that were cut for reasons of timing reasons or whatever).
So you never actually know what you’re seeing is what you’re going to get (the most recent example I can recall of this comes from the trailer of 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, which includes a scene at the end where Spider-Man is web slinging – and Iron Man flies – through a scene. If you recall the movie that scene is not in the movie).
So for someone who didn’t particularly like Venom there’s hope that maybe the awkward physical comedy and weird voices are going to wind up somewhere on the cutting room floor.
Though considering that the first movie was chock full of Venom’s irritating voice I’m probably out of luck on that front.
And it’s worth mentioning that this is from Sony (the company that for some reason felt the need to strong-arm Sam Raimi of the first trilogy) so low expectations is perhaps the best way to go.
