I haven’t seen any movies from Chloe Zhao (Nomadland, The Rider) though I have seen trailers and they’re typically intimate affairs with a visual scope that would not be out of place in a John Ford (The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, The Searchers) movie.

Today a teaser trailer was dropped for the movie she’s directed for Marvel Studios, Eternals, and it’s gorgeous with a scale and scope very reminiscent of Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey (when that craft drifts into scene it’s very reminiscent of Kubrick’s monolith in particular).

It’s just appears to be a remarkably beautiful movie and feels unlike anything we’ve seen from the studio thus far.
