When movies were released at the height of the pandemic one could easily blame their underperforming on people being leery of catching the virus.
Nowadays? COVID is hanging – and mutating – on but economies all over the world seem to be coming back to life, emerging like a bear from deep hibernation.
This was the environment that Sony’s Morbius was released into, and with the success of Venom: Let There Be Carnage – earning just over $500 million worldwide, which it’s worth mentioning is significantly less that its predecessor made – you’d think the Living Vampire would drain all the money from the box office.
Though apparently that was not meant to be, because with Morbius having earned just over $126 million on a $70 million production budget the likelihood is high that it’s going to fail.
That doesn’t mean that we won’t see Morbius again, though the likelihood that it’ll be in a solo movie is low.
