The trailer for the latest chapter in the Independence Day saga dropped a few hours ago, and to be honest I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed. Between Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Captain America: Civil War and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and X-Men: Apocalypse there are some huge movies coming out relatively soon. There’s potentially millions riding on when these […]
“Not Nearly As Bad As It Could’ve–Or Even Should’ve–Been. Satire!” Harvey Keitel, Luke Wilson, Sam Buscemi, Nick Nolte, John Turturro…I don’t know how Adam Sandler did it, but his Netflix movie, The Ridiculous 6, has an insane amount of cameos by some really good actors (at this point I wouldn’t be shocked if Sam Jackson or […]
I have just watched the latest trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse, and it’s…okay. It teases Apocalypse, his Four Horsemen, his origins and so forth but there’s a problem: As far as superhero movies go, we’re in a time of wonders. From the Avengers to Superman, some of the greatest in comics have, or will soon, pop up […]
Having seen 2014’s Godzilla–which as far as I am concerned will go down in history as the first Godzilla film where Godzilla was almost a tertiary character in its own movie–I was hoping that Toho Co. Ltd, the original creators of the radioactive-firebreathing lizard, would do a much better job (and the less I say about […]
Yesterday I read an interesting article from Albert Ching, Managing Editor at Comic Book Resources, where he explains why he hopes that the actor cast as Iron Fist in Marvel Television/Netflix’s upcoming series isn’t Asian. And I think that I get it why an Asian person might have a problem with an Asian person as the lead […]
I’ll be honest: I don’t particularly care about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I recall having started watching the last movie–the 2014 reboot by Jonathan Liebesman–but also recall losing interest pretty quickly. So why am I posting a trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2? Why not? Just because I don’t prefer to watch them it […]
According to Business Insider, Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur is the company’s first box office failure, though that’s not quite true (not yet, at any rate). The reason being, the movie has only been out thirteen days, so it’s a bit too early to tell. Ironically, the Variety article that the Business Insider article links to […]
I have to admit act for a while I was a bit nervous. From rumors that Marvel Television was ditching Iron Fist and replacing him with Moon Knight (Moon Knight is pretty awesome, by the way, though he lacks a prior relationship with Luke Cage which would be essential to the narrative) to they were going […]
The full trailer for Batman v Superman dropped last night, and I get a very Transformers-like vibe from it (as in huge special effects in service of a pretty simple story. And speaking of story, doesn’t this trailer seem to give away a lot of stuff that they maybe shouldn’t have?), which isn’t necessarily a good thing […]
Many comics fans tend to get up in arms when the appearance of their favorite characters changes from comics to the movies, and sometimes there are good reasons for it. As they exist with within comic books humans aren’t typically designed to be interpreted in three dimensions–as the proportions of some of them readily illustrate–though that’s beginning to change, since […]
