Footage from Donald Glover’s aborted take on Fox’s Deadpool was released a while ago, and it not only looks awesome and captures the feel of the movie–it’s gloriously and unrepentantly violent–but oddly enough feels more ‘Deadpool’ than Deadpool actually was. And I know this is simply an animation test, but it feels like Marvel Television […]
You’d think it would be relatively easy to get a cartoon–which it’s worth mentioning would be more Archer than Superfriends–based on Fox’s Deadpool off the ground. And apparently you’d be wrong because the series that Donald Glover and his brother were writing and producing for FX and Marvel Television has apparently fell through. And Glover […]
Netflix has been making a lot of movies, but their output is extremely uneven, to put it kindly. For every Gerald’s Game or Okja they seem to double-down on the terrible, with movies like The Babysitter or just about anything featuring Adam Sandler. And Game Over, Man! fits firmly in the latter category. As far as […]
The trailer for Deadpool 2 dropped yesterday, so here’s the Red band version (because unlike Deadpool, we’re all adults). And speaking of Mr. Pool, the first movie wasn’t nearly as risqué, innovative or clever as it liked to think it was though it was an interesting–at the time–and novel interpretation of a superhero, unending […]
If I can be honest for a moment: While the idea of a channel dedicated to science fiction is a great idea, SyFy is shockingly lame. For a start, what does ‘SyFy’ even mean (other than a uber-pretentious and dumb way of spelling ‘SciFi.’ that is)? But let’s for a moment look beyond the general […]
Having speculated yesterday on what Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger needed to succeed-a healthy budget and good FX (solid acting and characters easy to relate to should go without saying)–and having just watched the trailer I think they got Dagger right. Her light knives looked a bit too ‘solid’ for me initially, but on repeat viewing […]
Marvel Television, unlike their stablemates at Marvel Studios are very hit and miss as far as translating their characters goes. So far–when they’ve dealt with ‘street-level’ characters like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage, they’ve been relatively successful. The problems arise when they try to tackle characters that exist is a more […]
“Let’s talk about this plan of yours.” says Star-Lord, while Peter Parker looks on bemused, while Drax looks just grim. “I think it’s good, except it sucks. Let me do the plan, that way it might be really good.” “Wow.” Tony Stark relies, perfectly capturing how much of an ass he thinks Quill is in […]
I don’t know who these ‘Avengers’ are, though it’s about time John Steed and Emma Peel got a movie they can call their own. All kidding aside–though it would really be awesome if they did get another try at a feature–I find it always interesting when we get a teaser for a trailer (which is […]
I asked this question a few months ago in reference to Ready Player One and I think it’s worth considering for Pacific Rim: Uprising as well because–while premiering domestically March 23rd means it will avoid the box office tsunami known as Black Panther–you have to wonder how much interest there is in the project. Keep […]
