‘As Above, So Below’ Trailer

The picture on the left is from the Catacombs of Paris, which I took myself.  If you haven’t seen them, they’re worth checking out.  They’re also a bit on the morbid side, but as far as I am concerned were the primary motivator for me visiting Paris in the first place.  I was so impressed that when […]

‘Godzilla’ Review

Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla Isn’t The Same Monster Many Of Us Grew Up Watching, Which Sometimes Isn’t A Good Thing In The Beginning… I remember when I was growing that I spent many Saturday afternoons in front of a television, watching monsters like Gamera, Mothra and Godzilla.  They tended to have come into being due to the hubris of Man, as […]

‘Monster 2: Dark Continent’ Trailer

It’s interesting how things go sometimes.  Recently in my Postmortem column I wrote about Garth Edwards’ Monsters, and a few days later learned of the existence of its sequel, Monsters 2: Dark Continent. Lately everything seems so massive that every once in awhile I really welcome something on a smaller scale (though not too small.  Oculus was entertaining, but almost intimate.  And don’t get me wrong, I am not critizing spectacle, after all it’s a golden […]

‘Godzilla’ Trailer

The trailer of Gareth Edwards’ “Godzilla” trailer has arrived, and I have to say that I like it (despite that opening ‘Transformers’ horn sound).  Heavy on atmospherics, relatively little of the big lizard itself, it’s looking pretty good. Overall, it looks interesting enough that “Monsters” will only be an distant memory.
