‘Divergent’ Trailer

I understand that studios feel the need to create a new Hunger Games or “Twilight,” but this movie seems kind of silly. To start, how could dividing people up into groups promote any sort of peace?  That’s exactly the way things are now–except sub-divided a few billion more times–and no one is quite singing Kumbaya. […]

Rocket Raccoon Sighted!

Originally when I watched the teaser for “Guardians Of The Galaxy,” I wondered where Rocket Raccoon was.  It appears that he actually turns up, but only for a moment (he’s behind a clearly pissed Groot, firing a gun). Thanks to faraway for the eagle eye!

‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Teaser Trailer

The full trailer for Marvel Studios “Guardians Of the Galaxy” is supposed to premiere later today, though a teaser has just been released.  What’s interesting is that I don’t think that I have been so expectant to see a trailer, never mind the movie that will eventually accompany it.

‘Brick Mansions’ Trailer

When I heard that Paul Walker had died earlier this year, I was surprised; I am not quite sure why I was, in hindsight.  People die all the time, and while large amounts of money can prolong life, no one has yet found a way to extend it appreciably. “Brick Mansions” is, I believe, the […]

‘Welcome To The Jungle’ Review

“For a movie with the same title as a Guns N’ Roses song, “Welcome To The Jungle” has no bite.” Rob Meltzer‘s “Welcome To The Jungle” stars Adrian Brody as Chris, an unappreciated office drone whom redeems himself  (sort of) on a corporate Outerward Bound-type of excursion. Rob Huebel (“The League,” “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D) plays […]

‘RoboCop’ Review

“RoboCop 2.0 is new, and not exactly improved, but it’s still worth the upgrade.” I have an iPad 2, and I really liked iOS 6, and was perfectly content with it.  Soon enough, Apple came out with iOS 7, and when I upgraded I didn’t like it.  It was all shiny and colorful, but different […]

‘Haunter’ Review

“I thought I told you to mind your own business.  You are a Busy Betty.  And I don’t like Busy Betties.” –The Pale Man There’s a memorable scene in the first ‘Matrix’ film where Morpheus gives Neo the choice of taking the blue pill, which would mean that he could return to his everyday “life” […]

‘The Purge: Anarchy’ Teaser Trailer

I went into the first ‘Purge’ expecting a subversive commentary on American mores, coupled with an ample helping of cathartic violence.  Instead what I got was little more than a home invasion thriller, with barely a pinch of anything wholesome or nutritious. And while I can’t necessarily judge the upcoming sequel by the teaser trailer, […]
