The Predator – Review

I was really expecting Shane Black’s reboot of the Predator franchise to be all sorts of awesome. After all, this is the same guy who wrote the Lethal Weapon movies, as well as The Long Kiss Goodnight, The Last Boyscout, as well as directing movies like The Nice Guys and Iron Man 3.

And…I was wrong because The Predator was a mess. It’s certainly not the worse movie I’ve ever seen, but it’s not very good either.

If you want the bloody details, check out the video below.

Be warned, it contains mild spoilers and even milder profanity.

The Predator – Final Trailer

I’m looking forward to Shane Black’s take on the Predator franchise but at the same time I’m not too sure it’s going to work out.

He’s clearly good at what he does (after all, he wrote Lethal Weapon, The Long Kiss Goodnight, The Last Boy Scout and directed Iron Man 3, among others) though he comes off a bit arrogant, which to me says he just might make a Predator movie that ignores ‘crucial’–at the end of the day we’re talking about a movie, not open heart surgery–aspects of the character’s mythology in the name of being snarky or clever.

We’ll see because for me this is one that I have to catch in a theater.

The Nice Guys – Official Red Band & Final Trailer

I think I want to see this movie.

While the The Nice Guys looks like a typical Shane Black movie–The Last Boy Scout, The Long Kiss Goodnight–that’s not necessarily a bad thing because those movies were a lot of fun.

After all, it’s not like he’s is directing movies left and right (his last was Iron Man 3 back 1993, which I enjoyed despite their treatment of the Mandarin–and I am convinced that most of the people on the Internet who were so up in arms over the way Shane Black used, or perhaps misused would be a better word, the Mandarin probably  barely know who the character is.
