Touch Of Evil

Sometimes, you find something on the web (that isn’t porn and has nothing to do with anyone involved with Jersey Shore the Kardashians) that demands to be seen.  “Touch of Evil” from the New York Times is an example of such an thing.

It’s composed of thirteen short clips, with actors like Viola Davis, George Clooney, Brad Pitt,  and others showcasing a particular “villain” (from each actor’s perspective).  The most effective so far seems to that of Viola Davis, who seems to understand that horror is sometimes embodied not by what someone does, but by what they don’t do.

She also works with insects–as did Brad Pitt, though the greatest hurdle he has to deal with isn’t his acting, which is actually very good, more than it is the resemblance to Cosmo Kramer–though her portrayal seems to touch on the stuff that nightmares are made of.

Gary Oldman’s portrayal of an ventriloquist’s dummy also touches on the weird and disturbing, though too much of Oldman comes through for it to be really effective.
