I caught The VVitch this weekend–it was either that or Interstellar and having recently sat through Blade Runner 2049 I was not at the moment up to sitting through another 2 hour sci-fi epic.

Was it worth it?  Besides saving about a half hour The VVitch is a pretty good movie though I think of it as less a horror movie than a thriller with overtly supernatural elements.

And the reason why is that it’s filmed in a very documentary-like style, with relatively unsympathetic characters so it feels more like a chronicle of a family’s decent into the bizarre, as opposed to an attempt to have viewers relate, sympathize or emphasize with the characters.
