A new trailer for the upcoming reboot of Stephen King’s Pet Sematary dropped a day or two ago, and…it looks pretty good, which is understandable you realize it’s directed by Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer (the directors of the great Starry Eyes).
My greatest problem is that the original Pet Sematary (I literally just realized–after years–that ‘cemetery’ is misspelled, which makes sense in that children were the primary users) is a movie that holds up reasonably well today, so why remake what wasn’t broken in the first place?
If Hollywood wanted to remake a Stephen King property, why not Maximum Overdrive (a notoriously bad Stephen King movie directed by Stephen King!)?
What about Graveyard Shift? Cujo (not a terrible movie, but one I never saw the point of. It’s a rabid dog…okay)?
Or The Langoliers? That was made into a mini-series, and I never quite saw the point of that.
