The teaser for Terminator: Dark Fate dropped today and it looks better than the bulk of the past movies (beyond the first two) but even the return of Linda Hamilton can’t seem to elicit a pulse this time around.

And since I’m in the mood for speculation, I suspect that the problem is that standards set by the original movie– and it’s immediate followup–that haven’t come close to being met by the subsequent sequels.

Or maybe it’s just a franchise that has run out of steam. I’m not sure I buy that but it’s obviously one in need of a creative recharge.
