The Problem with Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

I genuinely enjoyed Paramount+’s Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (the premiere episode is currently on Youtube) because of the three Star Trek series that have been released thus far – I haven’t seen Star Trek: Picard but if what heard from reviews like Half In The Bag I’m not missing much – but there’s a huge problem with the first episode, titled Strange New Worlds.

Namely it’s pretty insulting though what’s perhaps worse is that I have no idea if it’s the way it is because the writers are ignorant of things that they shouldn’t be ignorant of, like what is reverse engineering (though to be fair it’s more extensive than I understood it to be, though still how they use the term in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds ISN’T reverse engineering, no matter how anyone defines the term) Star Trek: Into Darkness (2013) has a similar misunderstanding/misinterpretation/blatant cluelessness about things like cold fusion and it’s really infuriating.
