Last week the trailer dropped for Black Adam, the latest movie from DC Films and it’s amazing, though not for the reasons you might think.
It manages to steal iconic moments from various Marvel movie trailers in such a way that’s so blatant that there’s something pretty remarkable – never mind shameless – about it.
And I understand that at this point superhero movies have become so common that certain tropes are to be expected (Deadpool in his first movie didn’t make a point of pointing out someone doing a ‘superhero landing’ for nothing. He did so because what made it funny was its ubiquitousness) but that’s not what I mean.
I’m talking about scenes that are virtually copies from those in other trailers.
And it might not reflect the actual movie at all, but it’s just a really weird way to introduce a character that has never before appeared in live action to the world.
