Zach Snyder’s “Man Of Steel” is significantly better than I expected, though not nearly as entertaining as it could have been. That’s probably one of the most weasely summations of a film that I have ever written, but it’s fitting. Much is riding on “Man Of Steel” because if it succeeds – and early returns […]
Now this trailer I like, compared to the last one, at any rate. That being said, there are caveats: The most serious being that the Silver Samurai that appears in the trailer seems to be entirely CGI, which makes him look like a really shiny Cylon, instead of a man wearing samurai armor, which is […]
Just when you thought that those Spartans from Zach Snyder’s “300” were defeated, six years of so later comes “300: Rise of an Empire.” I assume that there’s another group of almost unconquerable warriors, once again squaring off against Xerxes (the guy in the golden underwear from the first film, who’s actually based on a […]
It should come to no surprise that Universal Pictures and Blumhouse (the production single of Jason Blum, who produced the ‘Paranormal Activity’ films as well) are preparing a sequel to “The Purge,” which has gone on scare up over $34 million at the North American box office. Foreign returns are significantly weaker, though coming in […]
“Great Concept, So-So Movie.” What is it with these movies that seem so afraid to take any sort of risk, seemingly because they might offend someone? First there was the “The Internship,” that somehow manages to forget that when most people – including Vince Vaughan, I suspect – lose jobs (and houses, and girlfriends…) they […]
Aaron Taylor-Johnson probably has an awesome agent. I assume that his is the case because he’s starring in the upcoming “Kick-Ass 2,” a reboot of ‘Godzilla” and now it seems that he may be cast as ‘Quicksilver’ in the upcoming sequel to Marvel Studios’ “The Avengers.” Quicksilver is the guy to the right. Hopefully he […]
John Carpenter’s “Escape From L.A.” isn’t a great movie, mainly because on the surface it’s essentially “Escape From New York,” with a change of locale. It’s currently on Netflix, though as I watch I have come to the conclusion that it’s much better – and a tad deeper – than I remember it being (Sure, […]
““The Internship” Is Funny, Though Instead Of Google, It Should Have Taken Place At A Hospital. That Would Have Been Only Slightly More Preposterous, Though Better Situated For A Much Needed Testicular Implant.” You may be wondering why this review is for “The Internship,” as opposed to “The Purge,” the film that I woke up […]
“Now You See Me” is well-acted and generally interesting to watch, though it’s not nearly as magical as it gives the impression of being.” Louis Leterrier’s “Now You See Me” revolves around the antics of ‘The Four Horsemen,” (Jessie Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson – who seems to be turning up everywhere lately – Dave Franco and […]
Now this is what I call a scoop (which I wish were mine;)! Courtesy of thefuriousfanboys.com, here’s the first shot that I have seen of the Winter Soldier from Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I don’t even consider myself a fan of the character, but this looks to be crazy accurate. I assume that that’s […]
