‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Teaser Trailer

The full trailer for Marvel Studios “Guardians Of the Galaxy” is supposed to premiere later today, though a teaser has just been released.  What’s interesting is that I don’t think that I have been so expectant to see a trailer, never mind the movie that will eventually accompany it.

‘Brick Mansions’ Trailer

When I heard that Paul Walker had died earlier this year, I was surprised; I am not quite sure why I was, in hindsight.  People die all the time, and while large amounts of money can prolong life, no one has yet found a way to extend it appreciably. “Brick Mansions” is, I believe, the […]

‘The Purge: Anarchy’ Teaser Trailer

I went into the first ‘Purge’ expecting a subversive commentary on American mores, coupled with an ample helping of cathartic violence.  Instead what I got was little more than a home invasion thriller, with barely a pinch of anything wholesome or nutritious. And while I can’t necessarily judge the upcoming sequel by the teaser trailer, […]

‘Tammy’ Teaser Trailer

Melissa McCarthy is funny, though I get the feeling that she’s the first person you call in Hollywood when you want a female actor who’s seemingly defined by her weight.  That being said, if she’s also being typecast, it’s all the way to the bank. And if I were being honest–which I try to do […]

‘Odd Thomas’ Trailer

And speaking of ‘odd…’ I haven’t read any of the novels that make up the basis of Stephen Sommers‘ “Odd Thomas” (which were written by Dean Koontz, who if I were being unfair I would say has always struck me as the ‘Poor Man’s Stephen King’).  That being said, I enjoyed the movie version of “Phantoms, […]

‘Zombeavers’ Trailer

Zombie beavers?!  Why?  That being said, I guess a movie that features zombified beavers shouldn’t be too much of a surprise to me, yet it is.  Mostly, I don’t understand the choice of animal.  I would think that zombie house cats would actually be more interesting.  They’re certainly more common than beavers in most places, […]

‘Transformers: Age Of Extinction’ Trailer

Wha!? I just finished watching the trailer for Michael Bay’s latest ‘Transformers’ film, and I have to say that he’s had better trailers.  This one has a particularly disjointed quality to it, and feels like random footage was thrown together with little logic. Which isn’t unusual for a trailer, though some sort of narrative cohesion […]

‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Superbowl Trailer

I really want to like this movie, but I am a little sensitive since being trade raped the last time.  Marc Webb’s first Spider-Man film was such as colossal mess that the honorable thing to do would have been to take it out back and shoot it. Yes.  Watching “The Amazing Spider-Man” felt exactly like […]

‘Mr. Peabody And Sherman’ Trailer

I remember watching the cartoon adventures of “Mr. Peabody & Sherman” when I was growing up.  I think it was part of the “Rocky & Bullwinkle Hour.”  Judging from the trailer, the filmmakers are making it a lot more wholesome than I recall it being. For instance, Mr. Peabody (the dog) and Sherman (the human) […]

‘A Million Ways To Die In The West’ Restricted Trailer

I should begin by saying that I am not a huge Seth MacFarlane fan.  The humor of many of his shows, like “Family Guy” and “American Dad”–I haven’t seen “The Cleveland Show” so I can’t comment upon it–is often in really bad taste. I don’t mind pushing boundaries, but it comes off more often than […]
