‘Carrie’ Trailer

I think that I might see “Carrie.”

Not because I expect that it has anything to offer that’s any better or different than Brian DePalma’s 1976 film – I don’t – but because I want to see if it has any reason for being other than the most cynical of motivations.

I could be wasting my time, after all there’s nothing in any of the trailers released so far – including this one – that looks significantly different from the original film.

Then again, I could be wrong and Kimberly Peirce’s film will end up being a worthy relaunch of a classic Stephen King novel.

I doubt it, but it’s possible.

  1. I’m excited to see this one, but have the same reservations as you.
It does claim to be based on the novel, rather than labeling itself as a remake, despite the fact that everything we see in the preview was essentially done in the original film. I’m curious to see if anything is added from the novel that didn’t make it into the first film.
It drives me crazy to see cute girls cast as Carrie, though. King’s novel depicts her as pimply and dumpy, not adorable Chloe Mortez with frizzy hair.
