Watching the final trailer for Robert Rodriguez’s Alita: Battle Angel I was struck by how unremarkable–and somewhat mundane–it appeared to be.

And that’s not quite fair.

It’s a good-looking trailer, and features actors like Christoph Waltz, Mahershala Ali and (this should go without saying since Alita: Battle Angel is also produced by James Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment) Michelle Rodriguez.

That being said, it shows nothing that we haven’t seen before somewhere else and that’s problematic, especially when you’re talking about a movie in the ballpark of $150 million.
