I Could Do This All Day…

I’ve never been a fan of Captain America: The First Avenger.  It’s not a bad movie more than a narratively muddy one that never quite comes clear.

Though there are some moments you can see the potential of the character shine through–such as what I like to call the ‘bully’ scene–but on the whole doesn’t quite click.

Then there was the sequel, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and I knew that I had found MY Captain America.

Chris Evans brought an earnestness, a thoughtfulness to his performance that elevated it beyond Saturday afternoon popcorn fare into something pretty remarkable.

And more importantly it built on what came before and didn’t throw out the baby with the bathwater–I’m looking at you, Superman.

So when rumors began to swirl about that the sequel to Avengers: Infinity War would be the last appearance of Evans as Cap I was a bit saddened, but okay with it because he was going out strong, at the top of his game.

Till I learned from the Russo Brothers that Chris Evans may not be as finished as I had previously presumed…

And just the chance that one of my favorite actors in a superhero movie may not be quite as done with the role as may appear to be the case brings a smile to my face.

To paraphrase Kevin Smith, take all my monies.
