I love stop-motion animation. I was almost weaned on Ray Harryhausen, so it means something to me.
There’s something surreal about it. It never quite looks like part of the scene–which is part of it’s charm–but it was always so obviously craft-intensive and fascinating to watch that even when it wasn’t done that well (LazerBlast) it was interesting nonetheless.
Which brings me to Primevals, a movie that David Allen (who did stop motion animation for Full Moon Pictures) had been developing before his death in 1999.
As you can tell from the trailer, it’s a mix of live action/stop motion animation, which is always a good thing.
Monies to complete the feature are being raised via Indiegogo, so give it a look if it’s the type of thing you find interesting.
