I’ve recently seen the first season of Amazon’s The Boys and I honestly don’t see what the hullabaloo is about.
It’s not terrible by any metric that I can see though unfortunately it’s not great, either.
Part of my problem is that it’s based on the work of Garth Ennis, who’s known for his darkly humorous, violent depictions of characters from various publishers.
The series barely captures the over-the-topness of various Ennis comics, which is disappointing.
Now, if I hadn’t read anything from Garth Ennis before I might have an entirely different view of the series though it is based on his work, so at the very least the series’ creator could have better honored it.
As it stands? Season one is fine though by no means as subversive as the subject matter it’s based upon.
