REview: Fleabag (2019) | Seasons 1 & 2

When I heard all the buzz revolving around Pheobe Waller-Bridge’s Fleabag I don’t know what I expected, though what I didn’t expect was to “meet” a character that was in many ways extremely unlikable.

She’s a thief, a bit of a liar and has a really irritating tendency of talking to the camera, less a case of breaking the third wall than demolishing the building entirely.

So, I didn’t like it and considered moving on.

Though I’m glad I didn’t because Waller Bridge’s character–I refuse to call her Fleabag despite the fact that I not only don’t remember anyone using her name but even IMDB lists her as ‘Fleabag’–really grows on you.

It’s less a question of her being a good or bad person than her being a very human one, which means that she’s not always going to do the right thing.

And that’s okay because the more I get to know her, the more time I’m willing to spend with her.
