Trailer Into REaction: The Batman (2021) | Teaser Trailer

Matt Reeves The Batman trailer dropped yesterday at DC’s Fandome and – if I’m being honest – is the only reason that anyone should remotely care about DC’s presentation.

It’s an interesting trailer for quite a few reasons – not all of them good – though it works really well overall.

First off, it’s accompanied by Nirvana’s Something In The Way, which is a song that rivals Smells Like Teen Spirit in terms of it’s awesomeness.

Batman makes an appearance as well, and oddly enough, he looks more like Daredevil from the Netflix series than he does the typical interpretation of Batman (I’m not saying that ‘s a good or bad thing more than it’s is what it is).

What bugs me is that – while I don’t think that Zach Snyder likely had anything to do with the production – it feels like he had something to do with it in that the colors are so desaturated that it looks almost like a black and white movie at times.

Now, stylistically speaking, this might be a visual indicator of the state of Gotham City and the despair that permeates the city.

Then again, it might just be pretentious and stylistic affection for style’s sake – like in a Zach Snyder movie.

In any case, I just don’t like it.

That being said, it’s a relatively minor point though it’s also worth mentioning that the music makes the trailer.
