I am not quite sure what an “announcement trailer” is, since I have always thought that every trailer exists to announce something (namely, that a new movie is coming). That being said, I think that Peter Jackson is a talented director, though I was most interested when I learned that  Guillermo Del Toro was at the helm.

Though I noticed that Del Toro has a writing credit, so that’s good too.

I will probably see the film if I think that there’s a chance that I can pick out any of his handiwork, which if the MTV article I linked to is accurate, is greater than I had guessed, despite that he had left them film when MGM was in dire financial straits, and before principal photography had begun.
