What would summer be without the latest Marvel Studios blockbuster?
It should have been Black Widow (2021) though that movie – finally arriving July 9 after hopping around the release calendar is premiering in theaters and Disney+ as movie studios devastated by COVID-19 try to bounce back (a web not even a master spy like Natasha Romanoff could extricate herself).
Which brings us to Shang Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings (2021), which builds on the character – the Mandarin that was kind of introduced in Iron Man 3 (2013) and All Hail The King – though the movie revolves around his son, Shang Chi (in the comics his father was Fu Manchu though that was phased out due to rights to Fu Manchu being lost).
The trailer seems to mix elements of super heroics and fantasy, though it doesn’t do so particularly seamlessly.
That being said, I’m hoping that the movie focuses more on the super heroics than giant dragons.
