A new version of “The Munsters” being developed by Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daisies, Heroes), and directed by Bryan Singer (The Usual Suspects, X-Men, X-Men United, and the upcoming “Jack, The Giant Killer”) will be called “Mockingbird Lane.”
My problem with this concept, besides verifying a suspicion I have had for awhile that Hollywood is bereft of new ideas, is that Bryan Singer is directing. I haven’t seen anything that he’s done that appears even close to funny. I understand the idea of directors venturing outside their comfort zones, but really?
That’s assuming that it is a comedy, though. It could be a teen-angsty modern take on the original franchise, though I still can’t get around how desperate an idea this sounds, till I notice that it’s from NBC, who seem to be throwing pilots against the wall, seeing what sticks.
