Remember that scene from 2016’s Suicide Squad when we first meet the Enchantress (literally the best scene in the movie, which I included below)?

A similar special effect is used in the trailer for the upcoming horror movie The Prodigy, which opens with a therapist is working with a troubled boy by hypnotizing him (an approach I imagine a parent would find typically troubling today), which somehow results in the freeing of this other being (as tends to happen in horror movies).

As I mentioned, it’s a cool visual effect but–like in the case of Suicide Squad–I wish the filmmakers had not revealed it in the trailer (because it’s a pretty good jump scare).
