Ready Player One – Review

I caught Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One on video last weekend (after not seeing it in theaters).

And that wasn’t an accident. The trailers for the movie looked like a bit of a train wreck, with Spielberg’s name being it’s biggest selling point.

And I was right. Sort of.

Ready Player One is indeed a mess. The story has blind spots big enough to park a 747 and the world the movie depicts doesn’t hold up terribly well to scrutiny.

Almost anyone else directing this movie would have revealed it as the train wreck that it is, but Spielberg has somehow managed to make a movie that-while not obscuring-at least managed to not actively draw attention to the aforementioned problems.
