Lars von Trier is apparently a pretty screwed-up guy.  From his flirtation with Hitler at Cannes a few years ago to  a problem with alcohol (which may be intertwined) the guy clearly has some baggage.

I’m not a fan–I enjoyed 2011’s Melancholia and barely recall having seen 2009’s Antichrist–but to me he sounds like a guy teetering on the edge.

And speaking of the trailer itself, it strikes a frenzied, almost whimsical tone. 

Which is interesting when you take into account that the movie is about a serial killer.

And that’s not to say that the movie itself will follow through with such an odd–and no doubt off-putting–tone, though you never know.
