Review – Black Summer, Season 1 (2019)

The zombie genre may be on it’s last legs, pardon the pun.

Z Nation? Gone.

The Walking Dead is talking about more spinoffs–one (Fear The Walking Dead) has been on for a few years now–though the mothership series is pulling in it’s lowest ratings in years.

And is there really any mystery why? Zombie shows are for the most part predictable (zombies turn up somehow, eat a few people, survivors fight for survival).

Rinse, wash, repeat.

So what does that have to do with Black Summer? Well, much to my surprise Netflix’s new zombie series has what it takes to be the best zombie-based series on the air.

The essential concept isn’t any different that any other zombie show, though the way the series captures the feeling of chaos, of fear that such an outbreak would cause it does better than any show I have seen thus far.

Though what makes Black Summer even better is the company that produced it.

Curious who that is? You’ll have to watch the video to find out!
