Richard Shepard’s The Perfection is a damn good horror movie.
As I mention in my review, it’s production designed to the nines. You can tell there’s some serious money being spend on this movie but it’s oddly not ostentatiously so in that it doesn’t feel like the producers a gathering a massive pile of greenbacks and setting them alight.
Though most of us don’t watch horror movies for the production design, we watch it for the horror and The Perfection brings the goods.
It’s clever–which for a moment I thought was TOO clever–and works really well.
The Perfection is vaguely reminiscent of the work of David Cronenberg is an example that throwing gobs of money at a problem sometimes works.
