This is an odd one because when I learned the title of the latest Saw movie was Spiral: From The Book Of Saw I got vaguely biblical vibes (that’s why in my reaction I kept saying ‘Saul’ instead of ‘Saw’), which considering the subject matter is virtually sacrilegious.
Spiral is a reboot of a franchise that had pretty much ran out of steam though it’s coming back with some serious muscle behind it.
Chris Rock (Head Of State, I Think I Love My Wife, Top Five) wrote the story, Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II, III & IV) is directing and Rock along with Sam Jackson (who appeared in eight movies in 2019 alone) is starring.
That’s quite a bit–and I would argue more–A-list star power assembled for a Saw movie than ever.
Does it mean that Spiral will be a success? Not necessarily though it’s not a bad start.
