When I started watching Netflix’s I Am Not Okay With This I hadn’t read anything about it prior, so it was a pleasant surprise.
If I’m going to watch a comedy I tend to prefer extremes in that it’s either insanely stupid, like The Three Stooges, or bizarre, like Top Secret.
Though combine horror with comedy? Like Stan Against Evil (which grows on you) and I’m there. And while there’s not a lot of it in I Am Not Okay With This, when it makes itself felt it’s pretty damn hilarious.
I Am Not Okay With This is based on a comic book but since I haven’t read it–or even aware it existed before watching the series–I can’t speak to whether or not it’s faithful.
And as I mention in my video, the first season is only seven episodes long and it hits the sweet spot of leaving you wanting more after it’s done, while not overstaying it’s welcome.
It’s a trick I wish Netflix had learned prior because it would have made the Marvel/Netlix series’ much more enjoyable.
