‘Grand Piano’ Trailer

Eugenio Mira‘s “Grand Piano” plays like a version of “Speed,” but with an awesome twist.  Tom Selznick (Elijah Wood) is a pianist who had a fall from grace, and is playing his first concert in a long time.  The problem is that there’s a killer, played by John Cusack, also attending the show, and he […]

‘Transformers: Age Of Extinction’ Trailer

I don’t think that Michael Bay and Zach Snyder are the same people, though the new trailer for “Transformers: Age Of Extinction” plays eerily similar to trailers for Snyder’s “Man Of Steel”– though at least Bay lets you know that everything is going to Hell pretty quickly. It appears this time around that humanity have […]

‘Enemy’ and ‘The Double’ Trailers

I don’t usually reserve one parking space for two vehicles in this ‘Trailer Park,’ though when two movies, on a superficial level, cover similar ground, Why not? Is there something going on, or is it just coincidence that two movies are coming out that involve people who happen to have doubles. First is Denis Villeneuve‘s […]

‘Skinwalker Ranch’ Trailer

When I first saw the title, ‘Skinwalker Ranch,’ I assumed that it was somehow related to porn. It’s not, though after learning that’s it’s “Inspired By True Events” I almost wished that it were. Because whenever a movie is “Inspired By True Events,” and that film is science fiction or horror, it generally means that […]

‘Godzilla’ Trailer

The trailer of Gareth Edwards’ “Godzilla” trailer has arrived, and I have to say that I like it (despite that opening ‘Transformers’ horn sound).  Heavy on atmospherics, relatively little of the big lizard itself, it’s looking pretty good. Overall, it looks interesting enough that “Monsters” will only be an distant memory.

‘Sacrament’ Red Band Trailer

While I think that it’s a bit much to call director Ti West a “critic’s darling” his films tend to be well-regarded by most.  He’s an interesting director (and actor.  The last film he appeared in was “You’re Next”) but I think his work tends to be a bit over-rated.  It’s very watchable, and even […]

You Can’t Keep Good ‘Heroes’ Down

“Heroes” was a series about people with special abilities that ran on NBC from 2006-2010.  It was produced by Tim Kring (“Crossing Jordan,” “Touch”) and in 2006 set the world on fire with the catchphrase “Save The Cheerleader,” Save The World.” Unfortunately, after that the series began to fall apart; partially due to a writer’s […]

‘Divergent’ Trailer

I understand that studios feel the need to create a new Hunger Games or “Twilight,” but this movie seems kind of silly. To start, how could dividing people up into groups promote any sort of peace?  That’s exactly the way things are now–except sub-divided a few billion more times–and no one is quite singing Kumbaya. […]
