Netflix recently launched a new anthology series, Love, Death + Robots, that revolves around–if the first episode is any indication–a dystopian world.

In the premiere episode, Sonnie’s Edge, we meet Sonnie, who’s the best beast fighter around.

Someone offers her hundreds of thousands of dollars to lose a match, which she refuses.

But when you refuse rich and powerful people, they’re repercussions.

Then again, they’ve never met anyone like Sonnie.

This is a really good premiere of the series, though it’s all CGI, which does a lot of things well, though faces and facial expressions aren’t two of them (which means you’re going to be spending a decent part of that 17 minutes in the Uncanny Valley).

Sonnie’s Edge last’s no more than 17 minutes, but it manages to pack a lot of story in that small space of time.
