For me Guillermo Del Toro is one of those directors who’s name alone is virtually a guarantee I’ll see his movie because Del Toro typically brings an earnestness to his projects that is comparable to no other director.

Even when he misfires, his work is never too far from the target.

That being said, I would prefer that Guillermo Del Toro were the director instead of André Øverdal (who may indeed be an “acclaimed director” but his name doesn’t ring a bell) but on the plus side not knowing what you’re getting into can be part of the fun.
